The Administrative and Financial Services Division of the City Attorney's Office is located at City Hall and is led by Deputy City Attorney Bernadette McKay.
This division provides legal advice and services to: City Auditor's Office; Finance Department, including the Accounting, Financial Management and Revenue Divisions; the Fire Department, including Fire Prevention, Administrative Services, Emergency Services and Support Services Divisions; Fleet Services Division of the Building and Equipment Services Department; the Human Resources Department, including the Classification and Compensation, Customer Services & Communications, Employee Benefits, Employee Relations, Recruitment, Risk Management (Workers' Compensation / Liability / Safety) and Training Divisions, and the Office of Municipal Integrity (including the Equal Employment Opportunity office); the Office of Management & Budget, including the Innovation Division; the Police Department, including Patrol, Operations Support and Administration; and the Purchasing and General Services Division of the Finance Department, as well as all boards, commissions and committees staffed by these Departments and Divisions. The Administrative and Financial Services Division also represents the City in disciplinary appeals before the Municipal Civil Service Commission and represents the City in police and fire matters before the Fire and Police Civil Service Commission.
