The program keeps youth active by engaging them in a variety of safe, supervised, age appropriate activities such as traditional sports, craft projects, active games, art exploration, fitness and nutrition, as well as reading and math and science enrichment activities. Swimming opportunities will also be offered for program participants at limited sites this summer. The community center program is open to children ages six to 14. The school sites serve children ages six to 12.

The program is offered Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at approximately 65 area schools and Parks and Recreation Department Community Centers throughout the city.

The Summer Youth Program at school sites utilizes the school's gymnasium and outdoor enclosed areas. The program follows self-monitored guidelines, which will limit the number of participants per site. The Summer Youth Program maintains a 1:25 Staff to participant ratio. Participants will be grouped according to age and staff will conduct age-appropriate recreation activities.

Fee: Summer Participant fees are based on a sliding scale according to income and family size.
