Disc GolfThe San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department offers three disc golf courses:
The courses are unstaffed and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. While park hours are 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., the courses are not lighted and are suitable for use during daylight hours. Admission is free. Golfers provide their own discs.
The McClain course was designed by Shawn Low and Wayne Atkinson. It consists of 18 holes, total par is 56, and the total length is 5,533 feet.
The Pearsall Park, 4700 Old Pearsall Road, was designed by Rialto Studios and professional disc golfer Paul Taylor. The course consist of 18 holes, total course length of 5,680 feet* for a total par of 58.
Disc golf rules are similar to those used in Club Golf. It is played like ball golf using a flying disc and trying to toss it into pole baskets. One point is scored each time the disc is thrown and when a penalty is incurred. The object is to acquire the lowest score.
