Building-Related & Fire Code Board of Appeals and Advisory Board


The Appeals and Advisory Board shall hear and decide appeals of orders, decision or determinations made by the Building Official or the Fire Chief relative to the applications and interpretations of Chapters 10, Chapter 11 and specific Articles in Chapter 28 of the City Code and shall provide advise to the Building Official or Fire Chief on code-related matters upon request.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the months of January, April, July, and October, at 9:00 AM at the Cliff Morton Development and Business Services Center, Board Room, 1st Floor, 1901 S. Alamo. Meeting duration is approximately two hours. Special meetings are called during the building-related and fire codes adoption process and whenever formal appeals have been filed.

The Building-related and Fire Codes Appeals and Advisory Board is comprised of seventeen members and seventeen alternate members all residing in the City of San Antonio that are appointed at-large by City Council. Nominations to City Council of both primary and alternate members for each category shall be made to the Secretary of the Appeals and Advisory Board by industry associations that are affiliated with nationally recognized organizations.
