Community Volunteer Program
Individuals can pick up a supply kit, free of charge, from their respective city council field office. Kits include 1 gallon of recycled paint, wipes for smooth surfaces, roller, brush, safety vest and goggles. After 10 hours of graffiti abatement, participants will have the opportunity to attend a training session to borrow a mobile pressure washer, paint sprayer or City vehicle.
Mini-Graffiti Wipeout
Scheduled for groups of 10-50 volunteers. Paint, supplies and a location are provided for the 1-2 hour clean-ups. Community service hour certificates are also available.
Adopt-a-Dumpster
A partnership between the City of San Antonio and Waste Management
(WM), provides free green paint and supplies to volunteers interested in abating graffiti on Waste Management dumpsters. How it works in three easy steps!
1. Obtain signed Right of Entry (ROE) form from property owner
2. Complete Community Volunteer Application
Document (photograph dumpster, if possible) and submit proposed
project sites(s), and ROE
3. Upon arrival, Coordinate pick-up/delivery of paint and supplies as well as signed liability release forms for all volunteers
Adopt-A-Spot
Provides an opportunity for citizens to adopt a public right-of-way, median, drainage channel, etc to keep it litter and/or graffiti free. Trash bags, paint and rollers are provided. A commitment of 3 clean-ups a year for 2 years is required. Additional information is available by contacting Keep San Antonio Beautiful, (210)219-9596.
Adopt-A-Park
Your group, business or organization may adopt a park after consultation with Parks and Recreation staff. We will assist you in determining which park will benefit most from your efforts and will be most convenient for your corps of volunteers. Maintenance efforts may include: graffiti removal, litter pick-up, small-scale gardening and landscaping, sweeping walkways, painting and tree planting and stewardship. Adopt-A-Bus Shelter
Contact VIA Metropolitan Transit at (210)362-2370, to locate a bus shelter in an area near you. Adopters' will be asked to assist in the removal of debris weekly, report the need for repairs or graffiti removal, and to report the need for security.
