Chronic Disease Prevention
The Chronic Disease Prevention Program was created in 2009 to tie together the efforts and resources of new and existing projects focused on chronic disease prevention and wellness promotion.  The program provides health information, education and programs related to nutrition, physical activity, diabetes and other chronic disease prevention.

 Healthy Restaurants Coalition(HRC)

The Healthy Restaurants Coalition is a partnership of local organizations and individuals whose main purpose is to implement ¡Por Vida! a healthy menu initiative.  Por Vida is a voluntary program that encourages restaurants to offer healthier options or promote existing healthy menu items. 

 Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities Project (HKHC)
Coordinator:  Martha Banda (tel 210-207-5262)
This project, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, will increase the opportunities for physical activity and access to healthy foods for children and families in San Antonio’s Westside and throughout the community.  Interventions focus on policy, environmental and systems changes that include prioritized green space improvements for increased community physical activity, implementing Healthy Hubs community development concept, promoting voluntary implementation of healthier restaurant options as well as healthier options at local corner stores.

San Antonio Business Group on Health (SABGH)
Coordinator: Stacy Maines (tel 210-207-8744)
The mission of the SABGH is to work with employers and the community to promote a healthier San Antonio by promoting employee health and wellness education; supporting strategic and   economic solutions; working with the health care delivery system to address rising health care costs and improve outcomes; publicly recognizing local employers for best practices in workplace health promotion; serving as a resource for sharing programs and ideas to positively impact employee health.
