Lose 11 in '11 Campaign Kicks Off at SAMHD

The Chronic Disease Prevention Team is coordinating an employee wellness effort at Metro Health. The title of this year-long campaign is Lose 11 in '11 and the idea is to lose 11 pounds and keep them off all year.

By promoting healthy behaviors, such as increased physical activity and proper nutrition, we can help our team incorporate them into their lifestyles for long term success. Aspects of the program will include quarterly weigh-ins, walking groups and educational opportunities – all done in a supportive, enjoyable and appealing manner.

Wellness Leaders for each Metro Health division and/or location were appointed through the City's Employee Wellness Program. They will not only facilitate communication of the program to staff, but also assist with some programming aspects, such as the weigh-ins. The Wellness Leaders will help champion this cause, become more involved in the employee wellness efforts themselves and encourage coworkers to participate in the activities. Even staff that doesn't need to lose weight can still work on adopting other healthy behaviors.
