Public Health Emergency Preparedness Prepares Local Medical Staff

     emergency preparedness exercise

The exercise tested the collaborative response since it would be conducted by a collaboration of government, private and volunteer entities working within the City of San Antonio and Bexar County.
Frequent exercises for disaster response must be conducted in order for community readiness to be maintained.  First responders need a full understanding of their roles and responsibilities when working in a disaster situation including how they would deal with complications that may occur during the emergency.

Approximately 170 members from Metro Health, UT Health Science Center School of Nursing, Angel Staffing, Medical Reserve Corps, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Centers for Disease Control Cities Readiness Initiative, and Texas Department of State Health Services Region 8 participated in the collaborative work.
