What is AmeriCorps VISTA?
Founded in 1994, AmeriCorps engages more than 80,000 Americans in intensive service each year at nonprofits, schools, public agencies, and community and faith-based groups across the country.
AmeriCorps VISTA, an AmeriCorps program, provides full-time members to create and expand programs that bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty.
AmeriCorps VISTA members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. They focus their efforts to build the organizational, administrative, and financial capacity of organizations that fight illiteracy, improve health services, foster economic development, and otherwise assist low-income communities. A living stipend, health coverage, relocation allowance, childcare allowance, and post-service Education Award are provided.
Join the City of San Antonio's AmeriCorps VISTA Team!
AmeriCorps VISTA members will be supporting work throughout the City of San Antonio in the Library, Human Services, and EastPoint & Real Estate Services Departments, as well as SA2020.
A monthly stipend of $973 is available by AmeriCorps. At this time, there are no AmeriCorps VISTA opportunities aviailable with the City of San Antonio.

Management Fellows program
Start Your Career Deep in the Heart!
Since 2007, the City of San Antonio, Texas has offered emerging local government professionals with the opportunity to immerse themselves in local government management and develop real word skills and experience as part of the Management Fellow Program. This nationally-recognized 12-month program, will give you the opportunity to complete important projects and work along side key leaders of the nation's 7th largest city. Each Management Fellow will receive the opportunity to spend four months in each of the following departments:
- the City Manager's Office
- the Office of Management and Budget
- one operating department
Management Fellows will be exposed to multiple challenges that local governments face today, as well as new and innovative methods to deal with these challenges.
Each rotation will provide the Management Fellows with a broad base of experience that will benefit both the individual employee as well as the City in the future.
Upon completion of the 12-month program, City staff will work with each Management Fellow to help them find a full-time position that matches their individual career interests.
