Is Sustainability on Your List of Resolutions?
2014 is here, and with its arrival comes New Year resolutions. The City of San Antonio sees sustainability as a top goal, and with good reason – not only will it help the City and associate community, it will have a positive impact on the environment. Being more sustainable is a scenario where everyone wins, so why not make it a resolution for your workspace environment in 2014?
The City of San Antonio is partnering with Staples Advantage to introduce select initiatives to provide city associates with environmentally-friendly purchasing solutions and minimize environmental impacts related to office supply consumption. The target goal for 2014 is to increase the City’s “green spend” from 17.5% to 23.5% in the office supply commodity.
“Green” doesn't just apply to office supplies – certain cleaners wall finishes and furniture options, for example, may have chemicals that are released through off-gassing, which is when at-times harmful chemicals dissipate into the air. In an environment where you are spending much of their time indoors, going green is a great option to improve your health and the health of those around you, while also having a positive impact on the environment. The City’s Sustainability and Finance-Purchasing Departments will be partnering with Staples to explore additional product synergies to further reduce the City’s impact on the environment.
